Tough group stage helps prepare Team USA for victory at Women’s World Cup final

After a wonderfully played Women’s World Cup, the USA, who played the most consistent from start to finish, are the Champion’s. The team that has played united as a team from front to back, found itself ahead 4-0 after only 16 min and they never looked back, winning 5-2 against Japan.

The USA are the first country to win the Women’s World Cup 3 times, but it has taken 16 years to get the third Championship since last winning in 1999. The group stage proved to be the tougher games for the US and really prepared them for the knock out rounds. They showed a true team spirit but the performance of Carli Lloyd scoring key goals along the way help push the US passed the talented Japanese team.

In the end, the world was able to witness some really exciting and beautiful soccer. The usual powerhouse teams of Germany, Japan, and the USA were able to get to the semifinal, and final. And who will forget the sad own goal by the surprise team from England. But in the end, the best team in the tournament showed how to win as a truly united group.

The beautiful game of women’s soccer is alive and well and everyone can thank all the teams for a truly entertaining competition.
